## Project Overview

Augustīnes Dārzs is a renovated residential ensemble at Alauksta iela 7, in the Grīziņkalns neighborhood of Rīga, Latvia. The complex was created in 2024 following a design by architectural studio Sampling. Its signature feature is a historic tenement building designed by architect Aleksandrs Vanags in 1907 in the National Romantic style, whose facade still bears decorative details inspired by traditional Latvian ornamental patterns.

During renovation, the building was restored to its original appearance — rough-textured sand-colored plaster harmonizes with a dark red roof tone, and decorative reliefs are highlighted by elegant facade lighting at night. A vaulted, illuminated gateway leads to the courtyard, where former workshop buildings have been replanned into apartments and two-story townhouse-type residences.

The architects interpreted the former industrial buildings in a contemporary architectural language, following the globally trending adaptive reuse approach. This methodology seeks to preserve existing structures and adapt them to new functions both practically and visually, promoting climate-neutral construction.
